Artist Statement:   I'm really inspired by relationships. Not just romantic, but literally the way we RELATE to each other and to the world around us. Its easy to find meaning in everything, but the hidden truth of it all is that it DOESN'T really mean anything. As an abstract expressionist I'm able to take those inward emotions, meanings, decisions, theories and views and turn them into beautiful visual demonstrations.

The process helps me to understand, loosen or transfer all those rock solid meanings and realities back into something very subjective and interpretive- often giving new perspective.

My work is about having fun, returning to innocence and almost laughing at the human condition- the "meaning making machines" that we are.

BIO:  Art started as therapy for Erika after the passing of her father and her divorce which happened around the same time.  She moved back to her hometown and began her full time career as an artist as a means of supporting herself. Erika is self taught and constantly looking to learn more about the industry she works within. Her style is influenced by her mood and her available tools. Her goal is to speak more authentically through her work, to be transparent about her feelings and findings as she learns more about herself, humanity and the world around her.

Her parallel goal is to encourage people to do what they love for a living. To make their passion a career, or to see their current career as an artistic expression.
